Yesssss, I finally got the Twitter to show up on here! Look in my sidebar! –>

I don’t even think it broke anything anywhere else on my site. But I could yet be proven wrong, certainly.

Anyway – if you are into such things, you should follow me! I’m @sixmodern. Mostly I ramble about things, but sometimes I talk about paper goods. And I will post coupon codes there as well. Coupons FTW!

OK, bed time. Big day of Smiths Fallsing tomorrow! Peace, my homies.

Brown Paper, White Paper…

Off to visit Smiths Falls Bookbinding tomorrow, to get some invitations duplexed for a client! The prototypes look great – I can’t wait to see the professionally finished ones. Exciting material experiments! I will show you later this winter, it will be worth the wait.

In addition to recently joining The Twitter, I also got a Pinterest account! I am alluponz the internet now.For example, here is a gorgeous bracelet by Gustav Reyes that I pinned, after seeing it on NotCot:

If you haven’t heard of Pinterest, its one of those sites that lets you collect and sort images you find online. The cool thing about it is that it actually tracks where the image came from originally, so that images aren’t just posted without attribution, and so you can always actually find out what that awesome thing is! Unlike Tumblr.

So anyway! If you are on Pinterest, be my friend! I’m SixModern. I will be there, from time to time, collecting pretty things. OK, back to work. Be good, my friends!

Wedfest is over!

Project Wedding is complete, I am now a Mrs! So now its time to get back to work.

The exciting part is, now I can finally post pictures of our invitations! I designed them but my awesomely talented friend Albert letterpressed them for us. Because he is awesome like that. We were really happy with how they came out – cotton paper is the bizzomb!! It was Crane Lettra from Coast Paper in Toronto. Here is the invite:

Wedding Invitation with Birds and Branches

And here is the RSVP:

I was also really happy with the kraft paper envelopes, which I sourced from CutCardStock.com, and the address stamp, which I sourced on Etsy from MyClearStamps. Awesome wedding invite vendors FTW! My camera is not really good enough to pick up the cotton texture, but you get the idear?

Since the documentation is now complete(ish), time to move on to the next phase, editing my mound of wedding photos! Apparently there will be around 2000 to go through. Yikes. But ALSO! Back to work! On my list: Christmas Cards! Getting Twitter to work on this blog!! New invitation concepts! I got a delicious colour inspiration from a collection of clean bedsheets the other day…. Ah, so many ideas and so few hours in the week. But we sally forth!

So drop me a line if you have any questions, I am home and working now! Big besos to all of you, from the little Mrs.

Pic from my long weekend - Almost Totally Unrelated to this post. : )

Any friends around Ottawa will remember that there were thunderstorms last week, and one of the hazards of living in the country is frequent power and internet outages. So I wasn’t totally surprised when our internet crashed during one of the worst storms last Wednesday night. I WAS surprised that it took 5 days and 4 or 5 visits from a Bell technician to resolve it though! Fortunately the weather was beautiful so we were able to muddle through the long weekend without missing the net too much, but its amazing how an outage can reveal your dependency! So anyway, now we are back to work. Sorry if we missed any correspondence in the mean time!

In other local news – did you know that Almonte now has a Creperie!? Exciting!! They don’t have a website yet, but if you are interested they are located at the bottom of Mill Street, in the beautifully renovated Heritage Court building. We tried the caramelized apple – totally worth the drive! I’m just sayin’…

OK, pizza dough time. Pizza will help me shake this possible case of strep throat. Right?? : )

Very Serious Post

Posted June 20th, 2011 in News, Off Topic by daniellegrace

I just noticed that all of my blog post titles end in exclamation points. Oy, I sound so giddy! Well, perhaps that’s because I AM a bit giddy, but everyone doesn’t need to know that! I mean, everyone doesn’t need to know that. So – onwards. In all seriousness. : )

Status report: I am working away on a couple of clients’ projects (fun destination wedding invites!) I am also busy planning my own wedding projects! FH and I are working on reception graphics, like placecards and table numbers.  I’d also like to design the thank yous BEFORE the wedding, because its one less thing to do after, but we’ll see if I get around to it or not – less than 10 weekends left until the main event! No loafing. I think my garden just isn’t going to get weeded this year. Ah well, there’s always next year.

With that in mind, I am off to do some work. But drop me a line if you need something! I’ll make time. I always do! Damn, there I go with the exclamation points again…

Free Stuff is Good Stuff!

The lovely Tracy at WeddingInviteLove has assembled a giant giveaway package to celebrate the health of her new venture – there is some fun stuff in there! Of course I am partial to the “Happy Birthday Douchebag” card that I sent, but there are also many other fun items to be had!

Happy Birthday Douchebag Card by Six Modern Paper Goods!

Oh Em Gee and other blank cards from greet!

Embossed Letterpress Cards by Girl Metro Inc.

You should enter the contest! You can tweet about the contest, “like” the WeddingInviteLove Facebook Page, or blog about it!

FYI, I have added the “Happy Birthday Douchebag” card to my (not totally populated) Etsy Shop. If you’d like to get one in a more direct manner. : ) Two colourways! Because I couldn’t decide.

I joined the Twitter!

I actually love it when people misuse technology verbs. And all technologies should have a “The” in front of them. “The Facebook.” “The interwebs.” “The iPad.” Wait, that last one doesn’t really work. Anyway – the moral of the story is that the lovely Tracy at WeddingType / WeddingInviteLove has convinced me to join The Twitter!

Now I just have to figure out how to get it to show on this site… I think there’s a widget for that… Well, I’ll add it to the ToDoList. But for now, you can check out MORE of my (shorter!) ramblings at Twitter! I’m @sixmodern. See you over there!

Support Design in Ottawa!

Posted May 26th, 2011 in News, Off Topic by daniellegrace

I am really into KickStarter and other such sites as a means of crowdsourcing design – this allows the people to democratically select and support design that they think is important. Such a great idea! I have been following the sites loosely, without actually contributing to anything, until today!

I saw this project on Apartment613, and it is very cool, and local! The couple (N-Product Inc.) will be manufacturing the product in North America, and they practice “Slow Design”, which is a concept I can get behind. So I sent them a little contribution. Hopefully they make their target, because I’d love to see this Ottawa design duo make some headway on their project. I’d love to see what they come up with next, also!

Header Graphic for my post on Choosing Paper For Your Printable Wedding Invitation

(Photo by the lovely Anne-Marie Bouchard at AMBPhoto)

Exciting! Today I have a guest post over at the Wedding Type blog. Check it out!

Tracy operates the beautifully designed invitation market WeddingInviteLove, which Six Modern is a proud member of. I wrote a piece for Tracy’s blog about how to select an appropriate paper for your printable invitation project. There are some photos to help explain it, and some info on pros and cons and pricing. I hope to put a summary of this page on my site soon for everyone’s reference, but for now, you can check it out at WeddingType!

Guest posting! I am so legit now. I seem to be saying that a lot lately…. Perhaps I am really becoming legit? : )
